Head of Client Services

Brief Overview

We are looking for a Head of Client Services to join an exceptional agency in Manchester. The role

This role really needs someone who is more than capable of both guiding and developing an account team (not too big, but that contains experienced account handlers), and harnessing the commercial relationship with your designated clients. The client base has a strong lean towards the consumer sector, and this agency is renowned for top-draw creativity, which is how they’ve earned a fair few awards along the way. A key part of the role will be to participate in senior client meetings and presentations, and strategic sessions; similarly, you’ll be guiding and mentoring an established account handling team to build their skills and confidence, and playing a significant part in the development and direction of the department.

You’ll bring big ideas, craft, leadership skills, and diplomacy together to help guide your team and make it the best it can possibly be. The leaders of this agency are hands-off in style, so you’ll have plenty of scope and rope, but at the same time need someone that they can entrust with the commercial side of the role and that can be the lead figure on all new and existing projects. The people around you are experienced agency practitioners, across the disciplines of digital and creative, but they are all hands-on and want someone who is happy to integrate as much as humanly possible, and not be too fussed by title and seniority.

What we’re looking for

To succeed in this role, you’ll need the magic combination of being intuitive and empathetic to build solid relationships, both internally and externally, and a commercial mindset to harness and grow your client base. You’ll be playing a significant role within the agency, and their success has been underpinned by keeping great internal relationships, so you’ll need to appreciate this ethos and these values. You’ll be at ease with developing client accounts, from both a creative and commercial perspective, and be able to see ways of generating revenue when possible.

In terms of specific experience, you will be used to be operating at Account Director level and handling teams, and will be comfortable across all disciplines, from brand repositioning to ads and innovative apps. The uniqueness of this role is that the owner is open on level, so the role may suit an experienced Account Director who has the ability to take on such a role, or an existing Client Services Director seeking a change of scene. The key element is that you are a safe pair of hands with a nurturing style of leadership, and will be there for the long haul – the agency has a fine reputation for keeping hold of their people, and want someone looking for a long-term move.

What’s on offer

The salary on offer is between £50,000 and £70,000, depending on where you are in your career.
