Rare opportunity to join an award winning FMCG specialist as Category Manager working closely with major supermarket retailers.
Part of a larger Group, this FMCG company continues to go from strength to strength and has a real reputation within the industry for being leaders of insight. The Category team is relatively small (they work very closely with marketing and NPD teams) but they manage a lot of product, and this particular role will work closely with 2 supermarket retailers specifically.
Although you’ll get really involved with the data in this role, it isn’t just a data role, you’ll play a large part in assisting the NPD process and really offering added value for your clients and within the team. They do love to deep-dive into the category to bring insights to life though, and they buy a lot of data showing how customers are interacting with the market as well as buying price and promotion data.
Your main responsibilities will include: Preparing category and market reports, developing and communicating category insights to direct the commercial and marketing teams to challenges and opportunities. You’ll build effective customer relationships which promote the company as thought leaders (pre-Covid you’d go out to see clients once every 2 weeks, but that’s currently being carried out over Teams, but may change back depending on client requirements).
You’ll complete regular audits of the market and communicate opportunities to drive shopper engagement with category and brand at point of purchase and you’ll read lead the range review process for your key accounts and review the impact of NPD launches.
What we’re looking for:
To be considered for this role, you’ll need to be able to demonstrate some experience within a Category role although a background in research or insight from an FMCG perspective may also be considered, as well as a clear understanding of the major grocery multiple accounts within the UK.
You’ll be able to demonstrate good knowledge of the data interrogation software from both Nielsen and Kantar and you may also have familiarity with Dunnhumby or Nectar 360 loyalty card, but a high competency within Excel and PowerPoint is expected. You’ll be commercially aware and have an adaptable and influential presentation style, and you’ll be really keen to continue the brands’ upward trajectory.
What’s on Offer?
Salary for the role is £40-42,000 with the option of either a car (hybrid models available) or car allowance, with a team-based bonus scheme of up to 10% annually. Training is also second to none with this company, so they will really help to advance your knowledge and career.
You’ll work three days in the office and two days from home, although there is flexibility for this at certain times. There are loads of other benefits including Life Assurance discounted voucher schemes, pension, discounted gym membership and free parking to name a few! The recruiting manager is really passionate about the company and this role, which adds to a real sense of ‘team’, so it’s likely you’ll become just as invested in the company!Apply for role
